The place is very congested, takes unusually long time to serve, food is oily and half cooked. Decor is average. The owner seems to be as nonchalant as his cooks and employees.
Good ambience...some dampness in the air though...most impressive is the use of Terracota Crockery - Plates, Bowls, Glasses which are all one time use. Unfortunatley could not dig into to Elish/Any other fish or meat but even the veg fare was good...Dal was not good as Aheli...service decent..what was missing was Traditional attire and Robindra Sangeeth like in Aheli...will surely do a repeat whenever next in Kolkata.
value for money food--very tasty==economical variety too--parking issues are there intesresting ambience--however very small joint--ac in full blast at times makes it very cold
Well its an okay restaurant. Being just beside my office, I go there sometimes for lunch. The food is a tad expensive and the variety is missing. During the lunch hour its often crowded and you often have to wait.
You usually dont see family crowds. This restaurant usually caters to the office guys.
The deco can be said intersting. There are large framed posters of old begali movies, trying to give it a typical bengali - old - Calcutta look. Large windows let in a lot of outside light but the ac is usually operated on a "economy" mode. Hence it kinda gets stuffy at times.
The service is pathetic! Once you take your seat, it will almost take forever for the waiter to get you the glass of water.
A typical lunch comprising rice, mutton curry, pulses (dal), a few fries and will set you back by Rs. 70 - Rs. 80.
My verdict: Its okay to lunch there, say twice a month or so but not a regular basis.
A small but delghtful restaurant worth a visit near Menoka.
The decor is sombre. Dishes are authentic & pricing is affordable.
Well to add more authenticity they can try serving in traditional utensils of Kansa & waiters dresed in Kurta /Pyjama.
Recommended for a visit.
