One of the oldest surviving restaurants on Church Street, Coconut Grove dates back from before Church Street became Bangalore's defacto 'Restaurant Row'. Along with it's competitor across the road, Palms, it was justly famous for it's Kerela fish curries and it's appam & stew. While the better of the two, imo, was Palms (on the rooftop of Highgates Hotel), Coconut Grove proved to be the survivor.
The food is moderately good, the price is somewhat high (about 400 a head without drinks) but it remains popular with the tourists and some locals. On a pleasant evening, it's semi-outdoors setting is a distinct advantage. Although not up to the standard of the Karavali, it isn't a total write off either.
