Check out the marinara pizza -- won't miss the cheese!

I had high expectations after reading all the reviews. But this was a complete let down. Their veggie menu is limited. We ordered a salad and a pizza. The greens in the salad were dry and not tender. The Pizza had more cheese than toppings. The base was chewy and tough!

The worst was the dessert. The dessert had some artificial cherry syrup which made the dessert super sweet and very artificial.

We later learned that the owner is a bartender. Hence we ordered a Irish whiskey. There was more coffee than whiskey. Again a let down.

The location is good and the ambiance is good. I might give it one more shot. But at this point, I don't recommend it.

The food is pretty good and the menu was pretty different from what is served elsewhere. The ambiance (especially the open air part) was just breathtaking. The night time skyline of UB city served as a very beautiful backdrop.

The food is quite expensive and the quantity of starters was so less that it left us in a bit of doubt whether the main course would be sufficient at all. All these doubts were dispelled once the main course arrived and to our surprise was more than what we could finish off. We tried only 1 dessert but was very very good (white chocolate covered with cheese and baked slowly for 10 odd minutes). The garnishing in all the courses of meals made the food look quite gourmet :D .

The total bill for 2 persons (2 mocktails, 1 shared starter, 2 main courses, 1 shared dessert) was around Rs 2500.
All in all, a restaurant that one should reserve for special occasions.

It was my second visit to Giancarlos place in the past 6 weeks. They dish out excellent italian fare - we had pizzas for starter. Being a vegetarian, I especially liked the aubergine pizza and the margharita pizza. There was also a nice Giancarlos special pizza with lots of salad topping and an interesting cheese that looked like a small boiled egg. Some of the people who came with me wanted to try Sushi and they made some special sushi for them - one of fish and one of eel.
The place is very pricey and the average cost per person for dinner will be around 750 rupees without alcohol and about 1250 with alcohol. This is a place for special occasions...
