KR Puram (or Krishnarajapuram) railway station (station code KJM) has
been upgraded in the past couple of years.
The newer entrance, as well as, the booking counter on Old Madras Road are
more popular than the older ones (on Platform 1, where I have always
seen only goods trains stop). As of now (January 2009), one has to
take the footbridge (from either entrance), by stairs only, and get
to the middle for trains going both ways.
Trains going out of the city (and usually, coming from Yesvantpur)
stop on Platform 2 and incoming trains stop on Platform 3.
Basic amenities exist, but there is no option for food beyond packaged
snacks. Coolies are hardly to be seen at the station. Parking lot is
right next to the station, on the Old Madras road side (almost under
the bridge).
During peak hours, keep some extra time in hand as traffic
snarls between the Tin Factory bus stop and the station are
very common. If taking a BMTC bus from Ulsoor side, you will
need to take one that does not go on the cable stayed bridge
(commonly called Hanging Bridge).
This station is handy for people staying near Indiranagar, Ulsoor,
C. V. Raman Nagar, Kaggadasapura, Marathahalli, etc.
