Great food. You cant find such a menu anywhere else. The menu has maps of tamil nadu, karnataka, andhra and kerala and food specialities marked on each place in the map. I knew this cant be done by an ordinary man. When I asked, I found that its owned by a Leela chef. Apart from buffet, its an expensive place.

"Good South Indian food served in a good ambience"

As the name implies, "South Indies" serves a decent variety of south indian food. Their breakfast buffet is also quite nice and quite resonably priced.

But the main thing I like about the place is the ambience. There are not that many south indian place that has a decent ambience (which I think is where "South Indies" saw an opportunity and have gotten funding to set up a chain etc.). This has become the de-facto place to take a non-Indian and to expose them to the rich variety of south indian food.

The food is resonably authentic.. but again like I said earlier, I go hear 'coz of the combination of food + ambience.

    Would recommend it!!

"Good choice for those not familiar with real South Indian food."

If your knowledge of South Indian cuisine is limited to Idli, Dosa, Chutney and Sambhar - then a visit to South Indies is very much in order.

A good spread of food items from across the southern states, and they don t do too badly on the taste-front either. The only place it could probably taste better are at the homes of your South Indian friends (whose mother still cooks the food :) )
