"Old gold coping hard with new generation restaurants"
A prime restaurant once upon a time now trying hard to match with new generation of eateries. Still a popular place among old Delhi residents at weekends/ holidays and lower / middle level company executives during working days. Offers variety of menu at a little over reasonable prices matching quality and quantity. Good bargain for group / kitty parties and family gatherings for traditional meals.
This particular outlet in the Inner Circle of the Connaught Place (CP) is the best one among the various "Bercos" spread in and around Delhi. The other Bercos I have frequented is in Noida and has disappointed me every time I went there. The food at this CP outlet is sumptuous (though a little extra oily). During peak meal time, it gets very congested but tolerable in terms of money one spends there and gets food worth of.
"An Average Eatery when compared with its parent in Defence Colony, Delhi"
I found this outlet working fine just business wise for some obvious reasons, yet it has to learn a lot from its parent "Sagar" located at Defence Colony Market, New Delhi. I am a fan of "Sagar" South Indian Food which is served at its Defence Colony outlet. This Rajouri Garden outlet is weaker in terms of variety, quality and taste. Perhaps concentration of Punjabi folks in and around Rajouri Garden area has made this outlet compromise on the quality and taste of the stuff they serve to match the locals needs!
This particular outlet at V3S Mall at Laxmi Nagar District Centre disappointed in terms of food and service. A lunch visit during last week of May 2008 spoiled our meal and mood. The much hyped "butter chicken" of Moti Mahal repute was a great disappointment in terms of quality. It was served almost cold, pieces tasted dry and poor in taste. There were hardly a couple of tables occupied at that time, yet the service was poor. Inspite of more staff in numbers than the customers at that time, the staff seemed "look busy, do nothing". Rotis and other vegetables served were not hot enough even to taste reasonably of their own. Overall, it was a great disappointment and regret to be there for lunch on that day.
Just a couple of kilometers away from this outlet, another specialist in Butter Chicken at Ganesh Nagar could have been a far better choice to have Butter Chicken in terms of quality, quantity and taste.
