    Aromas of China- brigade road

    "Great food, too costly though"
Pros - Valet parking, Nice small mall with other interesting shops as well. Food quality was great. Large seating space (so waiting time is reduced, there is also a Tandoor option bang opposite in case it is over-crowded). Lots of options for veggies in addition to non-veggies. Food quantity is abundant for 3 people! They serve alcohol as well :)
Cons - Just too expensive. A normal dinner for two veggies came to around 1000 bucks.

    Ispahani Centre- nungambakkam

"A bunch of shops but nothing more"
Ispahani centre became famous a long time back as a place where the happening crowd of Chennai hang out. Now, there are much better options for the Chennai crowd but this place still holds a good place in the minds of people - probably because of its prime location (right near Nungambakkam signal) and also because it is one of the very few places that provides for free parking!

Attractions - Has quite a few shops including footwear, HiDesign, Svarowski, a nice cloth shop where you get some amazingly low prices, jewellery, suitcases, and a few other shops that I fail to remember
Food Options - Has one of the earliest Cafe Coffee Days, MarryBrown, and probably a couple of other options on the smaller scale

And thats about it! So probably not worth visiting unless you are specifically looking at some shopping in one of the above shops or you want to meet someone in a place easy to remember without too much crowd!

"Ideal place be it a business party or a romantic evening"
A great place for a party - this is a beach resort on the famous ECR. Its probably is five star in terms of the accomodation - the villas are beautifully lined up in the beach. I have heard the conventional rooms are no less. Since I have not stayed ever but have had a lot of clients staying, they have all given mostly positive feedback.

We have held a lot of corporate parties here and the place can withstand a crowd even in excess of 300 easily (they have a separate place on the side that can take a party with big crowds). It certainly does not come cheap but bulk bookings also encourage some good deal negotiations. They provide the complete package usually from DJ to games to food to drinks! Beach volleyball and football plus other sea sports are options for the activity thirsty office goer.

Other than that, if you are on a romantic couple, then the resort offers you a nice cande light dinner facility. The beautiful beach near the fag end of the resort offers some of the best moonlit beach walks possible in chennai! (Tip: You dont need to come into the resort to do this moonlit beachwalk, you can park your car away from the resort as well. You need to pay 20 Rs. for entering the Kovalam village jurisdiction - which is still cheaper than maybe a drink that you may have to buy for entering the resort)

On the negative side, its probably a bit too expensive for a buffet dinner. Vegetarians may find lesser variety than the non-veggies- food anyway is not a differentiating factor - its just above average. (Tip: They supposedly have an exotic sea food variety that people may love) Its of course on the ECR and well into the ECR at that, so its does take a long drive from the city, that too after the toll bridge, so be prepared to shell out extra for that.

    Citi Centre- edward elliots road

"Good shopping and food range bad movie options"
Citi Center is probably the first big mall in Chennai (Spencers has been present for so long and its anyway just a shopping place more than anything). It offers the complete range a typical high end mall would - lots of shopping options (none of them the economical stuff), a huge variety of eating options and INOX chain of movie halls as well. So lets get down to the specifics

Shops - A whole lot of apparels including a huge Lifestyle, Basics, Van Heusen and Loius Philippe Showrooms, I think a Zodiac showroom as well. Am not a keen shopper but there is typically one for any type of clothing that you would typically want; Then you have Landmark for books / CDs and stuff and a pretty big one at that; You also have some footwear, childrens wear, cookies (I think Cookie-Man), a shop selling just various types of chocolates / toffees etc, and umpteen other shops I cannot remember...

Food - Is certainly something I remember a bit more. You have all the options that a food lover would want - South Indian (Sangeethas), North Indian, Chinese (I think Wangs Kitchen or Noodle House), Italian / Continental, Arabian (supposedly though never tasted it), Barrista, A sexy ice cream shop, a fantastic juice / mocktail shop, Pizza Hut or Dominos or one of those - basically you name it, it is most likely there. And a decent amount of space too to sit and eat. (tough to get space on weekends though)

Movie Options - INOX has 4 screens. For some reason, they keep running the wierdest or the not so great of the movies that are on at any time. The hit movie is probably running on only one screen though it may have just gotten released, you would think some better planning is certainly needed. Most of the good movies are sold out in advance so you better book it only though Yahoo! Movies :) Otherwise u probably will anyway get a ticket for a movie that no one wants to see but you are so in the mood to sit and watch with your better half cause the theatre is empty :)

    So in a nutshell

Plusses - Easy to access (right on Radhakrishnan Salai), Reasonable amt of multi-level car park (with Valet Parking), All options in one place, Great eating options

Minuses - In peak times, looks very crowded since size-wise its pretty small, Movie halls not showing the greatest of movies at any time

Its certainly worth a visit if you are in Chennai.
