They got most of the things right, located on the ECR, which is perfect. Its a Dhaba, which adds to the mood. But, one thing that went horribly wrong is their food. Of course, this is my opinion, but most of the times i have been proved right.
The gravy dishes are very bad, seething in oil and fuming with garlic.
The dry preparations only just pass muster.
The naans dry up so quickly that you will be ruing the second half. Adding to the agony is the poor service and a pitiful magician.
And one thing that i cannot stand, lots and lots of flies, so much so that you will be spending most of your time involving in swatting exercises.
Having said this much, I should mention that if you are looking for a Dhaba, try the one in Chrompet, on the GST main road. There, the ambience, food and the service are 5 star.
This is the place that i started eating chinese food and enjoying it.
Their service is excellent. Their dishes are wonderfully prepared. Szechwan dishes are the best, also their Hunan chicken and Phuket fish. Parking is never a problem as the valet does the job.
Of course the rates are going to be on the higher side, but once in a while, if you are looking for that perfect indian chinese food, then you know where to head.
Arguably the best place to have superb mexican food in chennai. They have excellent variety, and the preparations are top notch. Their quesidillas and enchiladas deserve special mention. Service is good, and with valet parking available, it should be the place to go for that mexican bite.
I give it 8 out of 10.
Once this used to be the favorite place for dinner for me and my gang of friends. We used to enjoy the chettinad dishes here, especially the chicken, which happens to be my favorite. But, their masala quality has become very stale. Pricing has gone up. Service has become bad. The interiors are maintained in a dark shade to hide the dirtyness. Very very unhygienic. As i said, it should soon become history.
I give it 4 ot of 10.
