this temple one of the best known landmarks in chennai. one of the oldest in the city, the inscriptions on the temple walls prove that this temple is more than 400 years old. located in the heart of mylapore, the temple has deities of shiva as kapaleeswarar and parvati as karpagambal. legend has it that parvati took the form of a peacock (mayil in tamil) and was waiting for shiva to accept her. the name mylapore also is derived hence. the annual aruvathimoovar festival (aruvathimoovar means the 63 nayanmars who ve written praises on shiva) has the temple car pulled by devotees and also the statuettes of the 63 nayanmars for public darshan. closely tied to the culture and traditions of madras, this temple has stood tall with time
this hole-in-the-wall joint is best for a colleger. the food served is too tasty but at a very affordable price. located close to the college, it is very popular with bachelors and students. you always notice people waiting in queues to get in. one bit of advice though - not a place for family/girls!!!
what if madras doesnt have a mcdonalds? marrybrown has managed to lead in this segment in this city. their chilly cheese burger and hot touch chicken burger are very good. they have started selling kati rolls of late. try this joint. no match for the taste or quality of mcdonalds, but not bad either.
cilantro at le meridian serves multi cuisine food. my favorite thing here is the chat wala serving chat items as per your choice on request. the desserts are also noteworthy. the interiors are excellent. with the lounge on one side and the pool on the other it suits both afternoons and evenings.
